SEPTEMBER 20, 2020
Last summer we teamed up with Battle416 to host our first 3v3 youth tournament, Top Tier Battle in the Six. We were able to successfully host 18 teams, across three age groups, all while maintaining COVID-19 safety regulations. It was of the utmost importance to ensure the participants and spectators health and safety was our top priority. We kept the numbers under control by monitoring incoming and outgoing traffic, setting up hand sanitizing stations, provided masks to those who didn't have one, and took sanitation breaks to spray down all equipment. A special thanks to the volunteers who worked around the clock to ensure all this was being properly enforced throughout the whole tournament.

We accommodated three different age groups - 2009/2010/2011 - with a total of 18 teams in total. The teams were made up of players all over the GTA including Brampton, Mississauga, Pickering, Scarborough. We even had a handful of players travel all the way from Hamilton to compete. The athletes brought their A game with competitive games throughout the day, across all age groups. Former NBA players, Andrew Nicholson and Myck Kabongo came to check out the up and coming talent the city has to offer. What a treat for these athletes to be able to showcase their talent in front of some Canadian basketball legends.

A special shout out goes to the Championship teams in each age group. Team Lexus Downtown took home the Gold in the 2011 division, with a dominating performance against Team Lakan. While Lakan showed great heart and hustle, Lexus Downtown's teamwork and effective ball movement secured them the gold medal.
Team Equality took home gold in the 2010 division. They displayed great athleticism and decision making in each game, especially in the championship nail biter when they faced a tough Team Clutch, who never made it easy with their smothering defense and tenacious attitudes throughout the whole game.
The packed 2009 division had the most teams with tight competition the entire day. In the end, Elvis Dennis Training Academy's speed and quickness proved to be unmatched as they defeated team TPG. So much talent to look out for coming out of this group!

Also, we want to recognize the winners of the 3 Point Shoot Out in each division, including the fan favorite "Adult Division" because adults can ball too! Gabe (2011), Xavier (2009) and a Father Son duo win with Elijah winning the 2010 bracket and his dad, Jameel, taking it home for the adult division. Each winner received a Nike Gift Card.

The tournament was executed seamlessly and we are beyond grateful to everyone who supported and all those who helped make this possible. We know that these unprecedented times haven't been easy for most, especially kids, so it meant a lot that we were able to provide them with a small taste of normalcy through the game they love. We look forward to hosting more tournaments in the near future and hope to see you and your squad at the next one - until then keep grinding and working on your game.
